Amarelli

Amarelli

Liquorice is at the base of all products by the Calabre company Amarelli.

History

The history of the Amarelli liquorice began in an 18th century “concio”, the original production site for this specialty.

At the beginning of the 20th century everything changed with the introduction of steam boilers.

The metal tins were launched on the market in 1919: the packaging wouldn’t alter the liquorice’s quality.

In 1987, Amarelli received the gold medal from the Società Chimica Italiana (Italian Chemical Company) for its ability to conjugate technology and traditional know-how.

Today, the processes for selecting roots, extracting the juice, cooking and reducing it are performed in highly specialized and fully computerized areas. Amarelli is known as the best liquorice in the world.

Area of production

Rossano Calabro is a town in the Cosenza area of Calabria, more precisely on the eastern part of the Sibari flatland, between the Sila Mountain and the Ionian coast. Because of its different geological formation, this territory has a varied soil, from rock to clay, and a rich flora mainly characterized by citrus fruit, olive trees and orchards.
